As a Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistant, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
Acts at the direction and under the supervision of the treating occupational therapist and in accordance with the plan of care.
Participates in the development and evaluation of the plan of care in partnership with the patient, representative (if any), and caregiver(s).
Counsels and educates the patient and the family, and other caregivers to promote patient progress toward mutually established goals and in meeting healthcare related needs.
Communicates with all physicians involved in the plan of care and other health care practitioners (as appropriate) related to the current plan of care.
Teaches task-oriented therapeutic activities designed to restore physical function, as well as sensory-integrative function,
Teaches compensatory technique to improve the level of independence in the activities of daily living (ADLs).
Effectively communicates with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team providing care to promote coordination of patient care and planning for discharge
A few must-haves for Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistants:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OTA certificate in FL
Minimum of 1 years of occupational therapy assistant experience in home healthcare
CPR certification
Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations
Good clinical judgement, strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and compassionate
