This is a part-time Guest Service Representative position.
Position Summary
St. Johns River State College seeks a dynamic individual to join the Thrasher-Horne Center team as a Guest Service Representative. This role combines front-of-house management during events with ticket office responsibilities. The Guest Service Representative ensures the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all guests while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include usher recruitment and training, lobby and scanner setup, volunteer coordination, and ticket sales operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
This is a part-time position with responsibilities divided between front-of-house event management and ticket office operations. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Event operations (Front of House)
- Act as Manager on Duty for events, ensuring guest safety and satisfaction.
- Coordinate and advance front-of-house logistics with show contacts.
- Collaborate with ticket office, security, volunteers, technical crew, and maintenance to ensure a smooth patron experience.
- Prepare and maintain the lobby and public spaces for each event.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer usher staff and coordinate schedules using volunteer software.
- Support touring companies with performer and patron front-of-house needs.
- Maintain and operate scanning equipment; ensure devices are functional and up to date.
- Manage volunteer records and points tracking in Volunteers for Salesforce.
- Assist with merchandise settlement post-performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Artistic & Guest Services or Guest Services Manager.
Ticket Office Operations:
- Assist patrons in purchasing tickets and provide informed event recommendations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all events presented by the Thrasher-Horne Center.
- Process ticket sales during business hours, events, and performances.
- Handle incoming phone calls regarding ticket sales and general inquiries.
- Balance the cash drawer and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
- Maintain accurate patron records within the computerized ticketing system.
- Report customer feedback to the Guest Services Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and abilities
- Ability to handle financial transactions and essential duties with minimal supervision.
- Strong professional communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with office and ticketing equipment (computers, printers, phones, scanners).
- Prior experience in direct customer service.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Certification in CPR/AED and first aid, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Flexible availability, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to meet deadlines and remain composed under pressure.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of direct customer service experience required.
- Experience with computers and handling cash required.
- Equivalent training or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.
