Overview The General Manager serves as the chief executive for all business operations of a new expansion franchise in the Coastal Plain League. This pivotal role balances ticket sales, promotions, marketing initiatives, community outreach, and overall revenue performancecultivating a fan-first approach and operational excellence in Zebulon. CPL teams operate with greater freedom and flexibility than MiLB clubs, along with half the home schedule allowing the General Manager to be more creative and community driven in building the franchises success.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and oversee daily business operations, including annual budget development, goal setting, organizational charts, and department objectives.
Communicate effectively with the Vice President of CBC Sports and Commissioner of CPL regarding business affairs and team performance.
Develop and execute strategic plans to expand ticket sales, sponsorships, retail, food & beverage and special event revenues.
Build proactive relationships with local Zebulon businesses, civic leaders, sponsors, and partners to embed the club within the community.
Create dynamic, integrated marketing campaigns (print, digital, TV, radio, and community engagement) to maximize visibility and team awareness.
Design fun, family-friendly in-game promotions and events that drive ticket sales, boost media reach, and elevate fan experience.
Maintain consistently innovative in-game entertainment and ensure a high-quality, fresh ballpark experience for every fan.
Provide leadership and training to both sales and staff teams; formulate sustainable ticket campaigns, group ticket plans, and pricing strategies.
Recruit, hire, and onboard high-caliber talent for full-time and seasonal positions.
Oversee concession operations; evaluate sales and suggest improvements for food and beverage operations each season.
Serve as the official liaison between the team and the Town of Zebulon, Wake County and Wake Technical College, nurturing municipal support and partnership.
Required Qualifications Minimum of 4 years' experience in sports management, preferably as General Manager, Assistant GM, Sales Manager, or Director of Operations.
Demonstrated proficiency in ticketing systems and box office operations; Ticketmaster or similar vendor experience preferred.
Strong leadership, strategic communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability in budgeting, staff and project management, marketing strategy, and fan engagement initiatives.
Bachelors degree in Sports Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed during the baseball season and special events.
