Job Summary The Loren Hotel Group is looking for an outstanding General Manager for their Austin hotel. Responsible for all aspects of operations at the hotel & residences, he / she should be an inspirational leader with the ability to engage the leadership team and employees across the organization to deliver world class service and guest experiences. The GM will be highly commercial and accountable for the hotel P&L and will work with sales colleagues, group management and owners to ensure the delivery of ambitious strategic growth targets. A highly effective communicator, he / she will be able to converse with a wide variety of stakeholders, and will provide clear and unambiguous direction to the management team and hotel staff An excellent operator, the GM will use operational experience and skills to develop and improve processes across all areas of the hotel, driving continual improvement to guest service levels while simultaneously managing costs effectively. With energy and passion, the GM will nurture and develop a high performing team that make the Loren the leading luxury hotel in Austin Responsibilities Leadership Lead, coach, mentor executive leadership team Assess the structure and talent of senior team and improve Establish (with SVP ops) KPIs and incentive planning for property leadership Develop (with HR) a plan for talent management that fosters a culture of continuous improvement Functional Oversee and co-ordinate all operational departments Conduct necessary regular staff meetings, fostering a constructive and open working environment Develop and maintain property standards (5* Hotel) Manage day-to-day hotel activity consistent with brand voice and identity Ensure full compliance to hotel operating controls and quality standards Perform daily, weekly and monthly property audits and inspections Ensure grounds, building, property are properly maintained and representative of a 5* hotel Work to become established as hotel spokesperson in local and community networks Work with Sales & Marketing colleagues to develop and execute plans for growth Review & commit to property activation planning Ensure compliance to all state, national and local laws and compliance Participate in and contribute towards employee satisfaction surveys and events Work with other Loren GMs and teams to ensure best practice shared across properties Be an ambassador for the Loren Financial Work with senior management and ownership to develop and execute budgets and financial plans Close management of departmental costs to ensure all areas within targets Provide monthly financial commentary to senior management re financial (W/Loren Hotels Team) Develop/establish annual KPIs and budgets for the property Oversee contracts with key vendors / suppliers Ensure/approve vendor compliance, communication, capital projects, audits and cashflow Supervisory Duties 5-10 Direct Reports, Lead Hotel of 140 associates Core Competencies Drawn from our core values, each competency is built upon a set of basic behaviors that are shared by all associates, regardless of role which include: Communication Cost Consciousness Managing People Job Knowledge Judgement Leadership Delegation Planning & Organization Problem Solving Quality Position Qualifications Education and Formal Training Bachelors degree preferred in business administration, hospitality management, or similar field. High school or equivalent education required. Experience Experience having managed teams >100 Hotel Rooms Experience, preferably at a senior level Experience having developed teams and managers 3 Years experience as a hotel general manager 3 Years experience working in a boutique, luxury hotel (non-affiliated) 10 Years progressive hotel operations experience Knowledge/Skills Requires advanced knowledge of the hospitality and business management fields. Requires considerable working knowledge of other major areas and the skill to integrate and communicate that information. Requires studying, analyzing and interpreting complex activities or information in order to improve known practices or develop new approaches. Ability to make decisions with only general policies and procedures for guidance and keeping the General Manager informed of general direction. Requires highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guests and/or corporate clients. Must have excellent speech and written skills in order to communicate with managers, guests and employees. Must have excellent literacy skills necessary for reports, policies and procedures.
