Full-Time Instructional Positions in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of South Alabama (USA) invites applications for two full-time, non-tenure-track instructional positions to begin August 15, 2026.  The successful candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Chemistry or a closely-related discipline (for consideration for the rank of Instructor) or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely-related discipline (for consideration for the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction).  Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.  One position will be a 9-month Assistant Professor of Instruction.  The second position will be either a 9-month Assistant Professor of Instruction or a 9- or 12-month Instructor.   Expectations for these positions include teaching, service, and student advising, with pedagogical development and/or disciplinary research expected for Assistant Professors of Instruction.    Primary instructional responsibilities will be in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry labs and lectures and possibly in upper-division courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.  Candidates with teaching experience or qualifications in Biochemistry are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be able to work legally in the United States.  Candidates with Ph.D. degrees will be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction unless they specifically request otherwise. The University of South Alabama is a comprehensive, public institution of approximately 14,000 students located on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama. The Department of Chemistry offers an ACS-certified B.S. degree in Chemistry and a B.S. degree in Chemistry with Biochemistry emphasis.
