Schedule: Every Monday, 6:00am - 2:00pm; remaining schedule 11:00am - 7:00pm (includes every other Saturday & Sunday and rotating holidays).
Primary Purpose of Job
The primary purpose of this position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations with our established policies and procedures and as directed by the Kitchen Supervisor and/or designee to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.
Essential Job Functions Prepare food in advance for other meals as directed, assure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available. Prepare and serve meals in large quantities, in accordance with planned menus, palatable and appetizing in appearance, in accordance with established portion control, standardized recipes and special diets. Inspect special diet trays to assure correctness. Review menus prior to preparation of food. Clean cooking and related equipment after usage. Wipe, sweep and/or mop spills as needed. Dishwashing and ability to operate the dish machine as required. Assist with the checking of incoming deliveries of food, inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies, etc. as necessary, sets tables, pours drinks and gathers fruits and desserts for dinner, and set, serve, and clean up. Work with the facility's dietician, as necessary. Implement recommended changes as required. Assure that all dietary procedures are followed according to established policies, assure that meals are prepared and delivered on time. Safety and Sanitation Keep the storeroom, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer in proper order. Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as established policies and procedures. Assure that proper food temperatures are reached, recorded, and maintained during the serving period. Assure that safety regulations are followed. Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies. Assist with daily or scheduled cleaning duties. Assure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Assist in maintaining food storage areas and disposal of food and waste in accordance with established policies. Equipment and Supplies Assure that equipment is cleaned and stored properly at the end of the shift. Report all equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor. Clean dietary carts, equipment, etc., as necessary/directed, keep work areas free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excess dietary carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 50 pounds with assistance. Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 1 year of cooking in a health care facility or restaurant (preferred)
