Cardiac Sonographer

Performs diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with policies, values and mission of the organization. Responsible for commonly performed echocardiography procedures with consistent proficiency. Procedures include:

  • Two dimensional transthoracic echocardiograms
  • Exercise/dobutamine stress echocardiograms
  • Agitated saline (bubble) studies
  • UEA (ultrasound enhancing agent) echocardiograms

Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Job Description:

10hr shifts / Rotating Weekends

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program

Certification & Licensure:

  • RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer
  • OR ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • OR ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Skills and Knowledge:

General knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, and views as well as the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment. Capable of performing routine cardiac sonographic examinations as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Good time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS). Work under close supervision or within clearly defined procedures to complete assignments within established timeframes. Use existing procedures to identify and solve routine or standard problems. Ensure the privacy of each patient's PHI. Builds and collaborates relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
