When you join our team as an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll take on key store management responsibilities including assisting with supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, managing schedules, and developing operational action plans while identifying training opportunities to develop and grow the team. Position Details Position Type: Full-Time Average Hours: 38 hours per week Starting Wage: $25.50 per hour Wage Increase: Year 2 - $26.50 per hour Duties And Responsibilities Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team performance Understand and model the company values to foster teamwork Monitor the competitive environment and suggest adjustments to maintain competitive position Provide product feedback and recommend items to carry or discontinue Participate in interviewing store personnel Communicate weekly information, milestones, developments, and concerns Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies Resolve operational customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence Identify and rectify hazards, maintain equipment, and ensure ergonomics Maintain store cleanliness and proper signage Assist with stock levels, product ordering, and merchandising Ensure product quality, freshness, and accurate signage Assist with payroll, inventory counts, and training new employees Supervise day-to-day team operations and escalate issues as needed Ensure reports and assignments are completed timely to provide excellent customer service Comply with company policies and protect confidential information Other duties as assigned Physical Demands Stock merchandise from receiving to shelving; lift up to 45 pounds Regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk Job Qualifications You must be 18 years of age or older Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to provide and lead prompt, courteous customer service Ability to develop rapport and open communication with direct reports Ability to interpret and apply company policies Ability to set goals and guide employee performance Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others Understanding of budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses Ability to operate a cash register accurately Ability to safely operate equipment and perform cleaning to company standards Excellent verbal and written communication skills Organized and able to multi-task with attention to detail Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages Education And Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge Prior management experience preferred Benefits 401(k) Plan with company matching Employee Assistance Program (EAP) PerkSpot National Discount Program Medical, Prescription, Dental & Vision Insurance Generous Vacation Time and 7 Paid Holidays Paid parental and caregiver leave Disability, Life, and AD&D Insurance Voluntary Term Life Insurance Equal Opportunity ALDI is committed to equal opportunity for all employees and applicants.
