POSITION SUMMARY

The Barista & Food Prep Team Member plays a critical role in ensuring that guests receive high-quality beverages, food, and service. This is a hybrid position combining responsibilities in three key areas: preparing handcrafted drinks, assisting with food and pastry preparation, and managing front-of-house customer transactions.

Team members in this role are expected to multitask efficiently, maintain a clean and welcoming environment, and contribute to the overall vibe and experience of Cool Beanz Caf.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Barista Duties

• Prepare coffee, espresso, tea, and other specialty drinks following caf recipes
  
  
• Steam milk, pull espresso shots, and build drinks with consistency and quality
  
  
• Maintain knowledge of the drink menu and seasonal offerings
  
  
• Restock coffee supplies, cups, syrups, and ingredients throughout shifts
  
  
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of espresso machines and bar area
  
  

Food Prep & Line Cook Duties

• Prepare grab-and-go food, light caf fare, breakfast items, or pastries as assigned
  
  
• Follow food safety guidelines and kitchen SOPs (prep, cook, warm, plate)
  
  
• Ensure ingredients are prepped and stocked for daily service
  
  
• Maintain cleanliness of the food prep and cooking stations
  
  
• Assist with inventory, temperature logs, and labeling
  
  

Cashier/Customer Service Duties

• Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately
  
  
• Operate the POS system and handle cash/card transactions
  
  
• Answer menu questions and offer product recommendations
  
  
• Assist with order fulfillment, bagging, and handing off items
  
  
• Ensure tables and guest area remain clean and inviting throughout the day
  
  

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• 12 years of experience in food service, barista, or caf environment preferred
  
  
• Strong multitasking and time management abilities
  
  
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
  
  
• Comfortable with fast-paced, high-volume settings
  
  
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and follow safety protocols
  
  
• Flexible availability including weekends or early mornings
  
  

COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate (Virginia Market Range):

• $13 $16/hour based on experience and versatility
  
  
• Eligible for tips during barista or front-of-house shifts
  
  
• Cross-training bonuses or performance incentives may apply
  
  

Schedule Expectations:

• Part-time: 1525 hours/week
  
  
• Full-time: 3040 hours/week
  
  
• Weekend availability required
  
  
• Some early morning or event-based evening shifts possible
