Position Overview

We are seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance operations and ensure optimal performance and reliability of our primarily diesel fleet. This hands-on leadership role will be based out of our Fremont location with occasional travel to our San Jose site. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader who can balance team supervision with hands-on mechanical oversight in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Manage a team of 23 maintenance professionals, including a shop foreman/lead mechanic
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and scheduling for staff
  • Balance time between hands-on mechanical work and team management as needed
  • Fleet Oversight
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs for a fleet composed primarily of diesel vehicles
  • Ensure vehicles meet safety and performance standards through preventive maintenance
  • Manage parts inventory, repair documentation, and ensure equipment availability
  • Operational Execution
  • Monitor fleet health and downtime to ensure operational efficiency
  • Utilize RTA software to track maintenance activities and manage fleet data
  • Support after-hours and weekend needs as required, ensuring continuity of operations
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Maintain compliance with DOT and company safety policies
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure vehicles are road-ready
  • Implement safety protocols and lead a safety-first culture in the shop
  • Qualifications:

    • Proven experience managing a fleet maintenance shop, including oversight of diesel vehicles
    • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing small teams
    • Comfortable working both in a hands-on capacity and in a leadership role
    • Familiarity with maintenance software platforms (RTA experience a plus)
    • No specific certifications required, but relevant mechanical or diesel experience is essential
    • Willingness to work swing shift and provide after-hours/weekend support

    Travel Requirements:

    • Minimal travel required, primarily to our San Jose facility where 2 mechanics are based
