- H.S. Diploma or national equivalent.
- Must meet ongoing educational requirements to qualify for child development permit/CDA requirements. (24 ECE credits)
- Experience teaching in a preschool or infant/toddler classroom setting, which includes 50 days of 3+ hours per day within 2 year period or 12 units of Early Childhood Education.
- Training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with very young children; must develop knowledge of infant and toddler development, safety issues in infant and toddler childcare settings.
- Must complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training as well as Pesticide Safety Training (per Healthy Schools Act) prior to beginning work. Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to children and their families and maintain a positive effect.
Job Description
- Design, implement, and manage a developmentally appropriate and inclusive educational curriculum for young children, following Head Start Program Performance Standards, policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Conduct parent conferences within specified timelines.
- Work with parents to set and achieve individual child goals.
- Keep up-to-date with weekly lesson plans, progress notes, anecdotal records, and necessary paperwork. - Perform child screenings and assessments within the required timeframe.
- Organize and lead bi-monthly classroom unit meetings.
- Provide feedback for evaluating volunteers and college interns.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, parent meetings, and in-service training sessions.
- Assist in planning and conducting training activities, parent meetings, and workshops for associates and parents. Coordinate education, training, and support for pregnant women, including prenatal education, breastfeeding information, and other health resources.
