As a DSP, you’ll be a vital part of that mission—providing hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy every day.
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) setting. This includes assisting with daily living activities, implementing personal plans, and fostering a safe, respectful, and engaging home environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Individual Support & Supervision
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residents
- Assist with activities of daily living (e.g., hygiene, mobility, meals, toileting)
- Administer and document medications per policy
- Support residents in preparing meals, attending appointments, and engaging in community activities
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for residents’ rights and choices
B. Program Implementation
- Participate in the development and implementation of Personal Plans
- Implement behavior support strategies and skill-building programs
- Document progress, complete assessments, and communicate updates to the Program Manager
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning
C. Community & Household Engagement
- Plan and supervise community outings and leisure activities
- Assist with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and meal prep
- Support residents in developing independent living skills
- Substitute for the CILA Home Supervisor as needed
D. Organizational Responsibilities
- Comply with all agency policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards
- Report incidents, suspected abuse, or misconduct in accordance with regulations
- Participate in required training and maintain DSP certification
- Maintain a clean, organized, and functional workspace
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education preferred)
Experience:
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer literacy and documentation skills
- Physical ability to lift, assist, and support residents as needed
- Valid Illinois driver’s license and automobile insurance
- DSP certification (or willingness to complete training upon hire)
- Closed-toe, non-slip footwear required
- Professional, safe attire appropriate for direct care
Looking for someone to work 7:00am to 3:00pm shft Saturday and Sundays
