Title: Dental Assistant II / Patient Service Representative / Driver
Department: Dental Clinical Services
Status: Hourly
Location: Assigned Dental Clinic
Reports To: PSR Supervisor / Staff Dentist
Direct Reports: None
Summary of Position: A DA II must be able to perform all the minimum qualifications of the DA II job descriptions. The role of the DA II is a nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties related to dental patient care directed by dental providers. They may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling minimal clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the dental services.
Experience: Minimum one years’ experience.
Education: One academic year or longer in an ADA-accredited dental program
Licensure: Coronal polishing, radiographic certification, nitrous oxide sedation a plus. CDL training will be provided by the company.
Certifications: BLS/OSHA/HIPAA

- Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to function as part of a team.

- Ability to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and seat patient; ready the patient for the provider
- Take/record vital signs and medical histories
- Take X-rays (radiographs)
- Speaks courteously, clearly and calmly to patients in person, or on the phone
- Gather, verify and accurately enter and update any dental, medical and insurance changes.
- Properly notify the attending dentist and working assistants of patient’s arrival and readiness.
- Answer and respond to telephone calls with professionalism and use script properly as needed when on the phone.
- Schedule patients for efficient use of doctor and staff time, making patients aware of any overdue balances.
- Provide oral hygiene instructions
- Be able to apply or assist with sealants
- Provide proper instrument set-up prior to appointment.
- Mix, prepare, and/or provide all materials and instruments requested by the provider
- Record dictated items on patient charts
- Ready unit for next patient
- Maintain cleanliness/sterility of unit, chair, counter tops, instruments and all item associated with patient care.
- Adhere to OSHA/HIPAA requirements
