Position Purpose: Food and food service delivery drivers play a critical role in the country's food supply chain. They ensure that customers' products arrive at their destination on time and in excellent condition while also building lasting relationships with clients. Drivers are responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, delivering and unloading food products in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Primary Responsibilities: Act professionally when communicating with customers, vendors, and co-workers, accurately addressing any inquiries. Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, performing various duties as needed to serve the company effectively. Conduct all required safety checks (including pre/post trip inspections) to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. Report all safety issues and necessary repairs promptly. Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving guidelines. Monitor the trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. Check quantities and customer invoices for accuracy before loading. Complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly. Move the tractor to the loading dock and secure the preloaded trailer as needed. Deliver customer orders according to a predetermined schedule. Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas. Perform damage control checks on items and follow company policy for removing orders as necessary. Verify delivery of items with customers, obtaining signatures where required. Collect payments (cash or checks) as necessary, secure trailer doors, and load customer returns onto the trailer. Ensure the tractor, trailer, and freight are secure at all times. Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete any associated paperwork. Maintain accurate daily records of service hours in compliance with DOT, state, and company requirements. Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clean and clear. Secure all equipment and complete required paperwork at the end of the shift. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates should have: 12+ months of commercial driving experience. A high school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent. A valid Class A CDL. Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable). Be at least 21 years of age. A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years. The ability to pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check, as well as a road test. A valid current DOT Health Card or the ability to secure a new one. Ability to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack products of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift, typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds, depending on the location.
