Operating 24/7, patient populations served include those with restrictive eating disorders, behavioral health issues, as well as gastroenterology, complex care, renal, endocrine, pulmonary, infectious diseases, and general pediatric conditions. Our interdisciplinary team—comprising registered nurses, clinical assistants, physicians, pharmacists, social workers, child life specialists, nutrition support staff, physical therapists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, behavioral health technicians, and pastoral care—works collaboratively to meet the full spectrum of patient care needs. We focus on assessment, planning, medication and pain management, as well as patient and family education, with a commitment to continuous care evaluation and improvement. The unit sets goals to deliver high-quality, family-centered care, ensure a safe environment, and improve care delivery and patient outcomes. Additionally, we support research and training for clinical staff while fostering a learning environment that educates patients, families, and staff.
Four, 10.5 hour days
Key Responsibilities:
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:
Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients.
Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participating in clinical training of student interns.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
Licensure/ Certifications: Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
