La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a Full-Time, Night Shift (7:00 pm – 7:30 am) Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) for the inpatient nursing department to join our team!

Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs various duties under the direction and supervision of a Professional Registered Nurse to provide care to patients from infancy to adolescence as well as some young adults with chronic medical conditions. The most common admitting patient diagnoses are sickle cell anemia, diabetes, asthma, severe burns, and physical and sexual abuse.

Job Functions:

  • Participates in the delivery of safe and effective patient care throughout the shift under the supervision of a Professional Registered Nurse, and assists with procedures as directed.
  • Observes and monitors patient conditions and promptly reports relevant information to the Professional Nurse or Module Leader to support patient care decisions.
  • Makes rounds on the nursing unit, anticipates and responds to patient needs, and answers call lights in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Completes assigned unit tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment, and promptly reports faulty equipment or safety concerns to the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Maintains required job skills and professional competencies, including current licensure and certifications, and attends mandatory educational sessions such as annual infection control, safety, and hazardous materials training.
  • Demonstrates proper and safe operation of all relevant medical equipment and machinery used in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assists in assessing patient status by recognizing and interpreting data necessary to identify care needs appropriate to each patient's age and condition, within the scope of role.
  • Performs physical job duties such as lifting, moving, and transporting patients, works evening, night, or weekend shifts as needed, and demonstrates the ability to follow instructions, reason, make judgments, and complete arithmetic calculations accurately.


What we need from you:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
  • Related Work Experience: Nursing Assistant Illinois Certificate required. Related childcare experience preferred. Ability to work with children and families.
  • Licensure/Certification: Nursing Assistant Illinois Certificate required. CPR required. Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross will be accepted.
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work with children and families.

Compensation Information:
Pay Range: $20.00 - $31.04
