Participation in an onsite skills assessment is mandatory prior to receiving an offer. *Please note: This bonus is available only to external candidates and is paid over ten pay periods. Candidates must remain employed for at least six months to retain the bonus. Role Overview: As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in patient care by collecting and recording essential ocular and systemic histories, as well as conducting various eye exams and tests. Key Responsibilities: Documenting and recording patients' medical histories. Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication usage, and contact lens care. Executing visual acuity tests and conducting auto and manifest refractions to determine glasses prescriptions. Performing tonometry to measure intraocular pressure. Assessing pupil size and reactivity through PERRLA. Conducting tests for eye muscle function. Carrying out confrontational visual field tests and pachymetry measurements. Performing dry eye assessments, including Zone Quick and TBUT. Participating in light cleaning and maintaining a sanitized environment. Executing advanced tests such as corneal topography and fluorescein angiography. Assisting with contact lens fittings and educating patients on proper insertion and removal. Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures and laser treatments. Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary within Hillsborough County, with compensation for travel time and mileage reimbursement. Qualifications: Required: Minimum of one year of experience in a medical environment. Fluency in both English and Spanish. Preferred: Certification through JCAHPO. Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in performing manifest refraction and tonometry. Strong multitasking abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy.
