Job Summary
We are seeking an On-Call Banquet Server to provide our banquet guests with friendly and professional food and beverage services in a timely manner. The successful On-Call Banquet Servers are relationship builders, continually thiking of creative ways to provide service to our guests. This position reports to the Banquet Manager, and the primary responsibilities are listed below, to include and are not limited to the following:
Prepare coffee breaks, carts and stations with appropriate supplies
Organize tables, action stations, buffets, and carts for service
Communicate any additional meal requirements or special requests to the kitchen
Ensure courses are properly cleared and crumbed in a timely fashion
Manage the presentation of tableware so that it is accessible for the guests
Monitor cleanliness and proper sanitization of tables, stations and service areas
Promote guest relations by greeting the guest warmly, engaging the guest in conversation, and using the guest's name whenever possible
Serve food by stacking the food tray properly; handle the loaded food tray by using whole body to lift, and support the tray on hand while using shoulder to stabilize
Clear the tables by assisting the service assistants and crumbing the chairs
Follow proper dish room procedures by sorting glass, linen, silver and china in separate bins
Complete all side work including filling all salt and pepper shakers, storing all condiments, cleaning section, and folding napkins for next shift
Read, understanding and practicing hotel policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Maintain a high level of professional attitude, behavior and ethics towards guests and co-workers
Know and actively practice the hotels emergency procedures and loss prevention guidelines
Make the guest feel welcome by maintaining a warm and professional attitude at all times. Provoke discovery with each guest
Maintain positive employee relations in a supportive, team environment
Actively practice safety procedures in the restaurant
Communicate effectively with managers about needs and concerns
Qualifications
Minimum one-year experience in a full-service restaurant
Previous banquet serving experience is a big plus
Ability to be flexible in scheduling to meet operational needs
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds or equivalent to a tray of eight to ten entrees over shoulder
