As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for maintaining the workflow of the Production department by coordinating with all department associates to ensure the timely delivery of all raw materials and components to proper workstations. Ensure efficient delivery of all finished goods to the proper locations. Maintain locations of component and raw material inventories for the Production department. This position will follow the first shift schedule, Monday Thursday, 6:00 am 4:30 pm, with overtime as needed.
Deliver pallets, components, material, and finished goods into designated areas as directed by utilizing work flow tools (e.g. tablets, monitors, radios and workstation indicators). Assist press operators in meeting production goals. Maintaining inventory accuracy levels through cycle counting. Maintain cleanliness of equipment area to meet 6S standards. Maintain all scrap and trash hoppers.
Desired skills and experience include: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (will certify at hire) required. 6 months related experience and/or training on propane sit-down forklift and/or reach unit. Safety: Ability to consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating a safe work practice by promoting a safe work environment. Accountability & Dependability: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance. Mathematical Reasoning: Able to apply basic math skills. Language: Ability to read and write standard work instructions and correspondence. Speaking: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Instruction Comprehension: Able to comprehend a variety of instructions furnished in English, including written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Communication: Able to communicate one-on-one and in small group settings. Measurements: Able to read a tape measure to 1/32" tolerance. Problem Solving: Ability to identify options for solving a problem encountered during the manufacturing process. Computer Skills: Able to use computer, touchscreen, and tablet to perform daily tasks and required training.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, seeing, talking, and hearing. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
Work environment includes regularly working around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.
This job requires no domestic travel. This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Columbus, OH. Relocation is not available for this position. Pay is $17.21 - $25.82 / hour.
