GENERAL SUMMARY: The Assistant Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager with implementing operational processes including employee supervision, inventory management, and customer service excellence. This role is designed to prepare an external candidate for the Store Manager position and is a temporary opportunity. DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist with recruitment and staffing efforts. Engage in merchandising activities, ensuring that products are displayed according to company standards. Manage inventory processes, including damages and markdowns, to maintain optimal stock levels. Follow established ordering practices to sustain inventory targets. Deliver exceptional customer service by leading by example. Act as a role model in compliance with company policies and safety guidelines. Participate in store opening and closing routines. Ensure secure deposit of all company funds in the appropriate bank. Support financial integrity through strict cashier accountability and cash control protocols. Help maintain a clean, stocked, and safe environment for customers and staff. Operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager. Analyze operating statements to spot trends and identify areas for improvement. Complete all required documentation within set timelines. KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: Ability to interpret various documents and manuals. Competence in basic mathematical calculations. Understanding of cash handling and inventory management procedures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to address and resolve diverse problems effectively. Bilingual Spanish skills preferred in certain locations. WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. One year of retail experience preferred. Continuously develops staff and ensures compliance with company policies. WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent walking, standing, bending, and kneeling. Handling merchandise and equipment regularly. Lifting up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally. Occasional ladder climbing and driving for company duties. Fast-paced environment with moderate noise and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions. This position may involve travel with limited overnight stays.
