Assistant Security Director - Garden City, NY
Full-Time | $30.90/hr
Are you a seasoned security professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for public safety? We are seeking an Assistant Security Director to support day-to-day security operations at a busy retail mall on Long Island. This is a key leadership opportunity where your expertise will help protect people, property, and the overall guest experience.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Security Director serves as the second-in-command for all on-site security operations. This role supports the Security Director in supervising officers, enforcing site policies, and ensuring a safe and secure environment for tenants, guests, and employees.
Responsibilities:
Assist in leading and supervising the on-site security team
Ensure all posts are staffed and post orders are being followed
Monitor officer performance and provide coaching or corrective action as needed
Act as the on-site lead in the absence of the Security Director
Respond to incidents, emergencies, and escalations in a calm and professional manner
Review and complete incident reports; ensure accurate documentation
Conduct regular inspections and patrols of the mall, including interior and exterior areas
Maintain strong partnerships with mall management, tenants, emergency responders, and law enforcement
Support the onboarding and training of new officers
Qualifications: Valid NYS Security Guard License
Must be willing and able to commute to Garden City, NY
At least 2 years of security experience, including supervisory responsibilities
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to remain composed and professional in high-pressure situations
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods
Prior experience in mall, retail, or property security is preferred
