We're currently hiring an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our new, growing team in New York City . This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with 1-3 years of experience! Internship experience in construction management is welcome and sufficient. This is a hybrid position; you'll work from our office or a project site at least once a week.
Purpose of Position
As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll contribute to the development and execution of complex, high-impact initiatives. You'll focus on pre-development and implementation responsibilities, including Pre-development and implementation responsibilities include concept development/project planning activities, establishment of project budgets, AE and CM solicitation management, third-party professional party procurement, implementation of design process management, design reviews at design phase ends, GMP cost estimates, evaluation of project constructability and logistic plans, construction management, including schedule and sequencing, project budget monitoring, procurement monitoring, and construction compliance.
What You'll Do
Supports project start-up, development, and management of multiple assignments within a higher education capital design, construction, and real estate portfolio.
Serves as a client's trusted advisor. Develops project goals for schedule, budget, quality, and analysis to ensure quality client advice.
Takes full management responsibility for smaller to mid-sized implementation projects with total costs exceeding $10 million and provides support to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager on projects over $10 million throughout design, construction, and closeout phases.
Develops client deliverables, including written reports, presentations, budgets, schedules, and program, etc. that are tailored to meet client's desired outcomes and scope requirements.
Monitors design and construction progress and participates in, or leads, Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings, both virtually and on-site, providing strategic advice and risk mitigation strategies to ensure the client makes informed decisions throughout the design and construction phases.
Perform quality control activities to ensure that team deliverables are error-free and on time.
Participates in B&D's training opportunities and actively cultivates a knowledge base in a range of best practices and industry-specific methodologies (Higher Education/Design and Construction).
Participates in business development activities to include article writing, conference attendance, and prospective client tracking or follow up.
Performs other duties as assigned by project executives or principals.
What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
At a minimum, internship experience in construction management and project administration.
Ideally, three years of full-time architecture, pre-construction, construction, and owner's representative experience in commercial, educational, or institutional projects
Full authorization to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. B&D is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas now or in the future .
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or RS Means is a plus
Willingness to travel (up to 30%)

This role's target base annual salary range is currently $75,000-90,000. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education, experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate, and pay relative to other team members.
