Hours : night shift hours (7:00 PM - 5:00 AM, Monday - Thursday) and commit to 42-45 hours per week.
Summary :
Our client is looking for an Assistant General Manager of Production (Night Shift) to lead our growing manufacturing operations.
This is a pivotal role for a strong, dynamic leader who can not only oversee our current advanced machining and laser processes but also strategically implement and scale new capabilities, specifically hand welding and robotic welding (using OTC welders).
The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to maintaining our premium quality standards, fostering a high-performance team culture, and driving efficiency as we expand our night shift to eventually include powder coating and product assembly/packaging.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Scaling:
Develop and execute a strategic plan to scale night shift production capabilities, with a primary focus on successfully implementing and supervising hand welding and robotic welding (OTC welders) operations.
Lead the expansion into future production phases, including powder coating, product assembly, and packaging, ensuring seamless integration and operational readiness.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and throughput during the night shift.
Team Leadership & Development:
Provide strong, dynamic leadership to the night shift production team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing night shift workforce, ensuring clear performance expectations and pathways for growth.
Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address any performance or conduct issues promptly and effectively.
Champion a positive and safe working environment, upholding client's core values.
Welding Operations Implementation & Oversight:
Directly supervise and implement the successful integration and scaling of new welding processes, including both manual and robotic (OTC welders).
Ensure all welding operations meet Client’s stringent quality standards for premium products.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize welding parameters, processes, and ensure adherence to specifications.
Oversee maintenance and calibration of welding equipment to ensure peak performance and minimal downtime.
Operational Excellence & Quality Assurance:
Oversee all night shift manufacturing operations, including vertical milling, horizontal milling, lathes, swiss lathes, and fiber laser operations.
Ensure the consistent production of premium quality products, adhering to all specifications and quality control procedures.
Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, streamline workflows, and optimize resource utilization.
Monitor production metrics, analyze data, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal performance.
Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and company policies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:
Serve as the primary liaison between the night shift and day shift management, ensuring smooth transitions, clear communication, and alignment on production goals.
Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Maintenance departments to resolve issues, implement new products, and drive improvements.
Provide regular, comprehensive reports on night shift performance, progress, and challenges to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications (Not all required)
5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2-3 years in a management role overseeing production operations.
Proven experience in implementing, supervising, and scaling welding operations, specifically with both hand welding and robotic welding (experience with OTC welders highly preferred).
Strong understanding of diverse manufacturing processes, including CNC machining (milling, turning), laser cutting, and assembly.
Demonstrated commitment to premium product quality and experience implementing quality control systems.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced, demanding production environment.
Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) for production management, data analysis, and reporting.
