Assembly Team Leader 1st Shift (6:45am-3:00pm Mon-Fri)
This position reports to the supervisor or manager of the Assembly department.
Responsibilities:
- Set up daily work according to production schedule or verbal instructions & supervise the team to execute based on our requirements
- Ensure assembly lines are running smoothly & the flow of material into the lines is completed in a safe and efficient manner
- Collect and communicate work order priorities and statuses daily
- Train new hires and cross-train existing personnel to support team requirements
- Oversee that cleanliness and safety are maintained in work area
- Serve as first point of contact for any inquiries regarding assembly processes
- Communicate work order priorities and statuses daily and expedite as needed
- Provide feedback to supervision or management on employee & team performance
- Regularly participate in the assembly/packaging of product on an as needed basis
- Read and follow work orders, production drawings, sample assemblies or verbal orders to assemble products
- Audit the team's first piece inspections and ensure no quality errors throughout the shift
- Use hand tools and do occasional light duty machine work
- Use of ERP system to communicate production quantities, non-conforming product and material shortages
- Lead and support continuous improvement/Lean initiatives by identifying quality or production gaps and driving solutions that enhance product and process performance
- Drive the SQCDMM process within your department which may include facilitating Level 2 meetings, performing layered process audits (LPA_ and mentoring others
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve production issues promptly
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) within the department
- Support the vision, mission, strategy and values of the company
Requirements:
- High School Graduate, Technical Certifications a plus
- Advanced assembly and/or testing skills based on the area of focus
- Able to perform basic mathematical computations & computer applications
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey them to others
- Must be able to read work orders, bills of materials and assembly instructions
- Must be able to access and use our ERP system along with additional systems required on the production floor
- General knowledge of workplace safety and the basic principles of 5S
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25lbs. and occasionally up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing along with bending and stretching as needed
- Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus
- General knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001
