Overview Aircraft Mechanic I (MWO Electrician - UH-60) Wheeler AAF, HI - CBA at Amentum. The Aircraft Mechanic I (Avionics Mechanic) adjusts, repairs and/or replaces electrical wiring and aircraft system avionics. Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
Responsibilities Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, services aircraft (e.g., flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes).
Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.
Restore equipment condition and/or operation as required.
Use comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
Supervise jacking and towing of aircraft and verify work; may service engines and airframe components at line station, making repairs as needed to keep aircraft in safe operating condition; may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.
Make entries in aircraft logs and records as required.
Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Receive technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician; may lead teams through more complex aircraft tasks.
Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, APU, ventilation and heating systems to ensure safe operating condition.
Perform other duties as requested.
Minimum Requirements Knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools.
Working knowledge of avionics systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations and technical orders.
Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams and schematics is mandatory.
Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
Climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the six most recent years.
A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and PID etched in each tool.
MWO - Travel as needed
Valid Driver’s License.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Clearance Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Physical and Preferred Qualifications Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Work is in an Aircraft maintenance hangar that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated; may be performed outside.
May respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
Regularly required to stand, use hands, and communicate; frequently required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and work in tiring positions; occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
May be exposed to extreme noise, fumes or airborne particles, electrical hazards, or moving parts.
Compensation & Benefits Hawaii Compensation Pay Transparency: HIRING SALARY RANGE: $87,921.60 - $42.27 - $45.71 (Hourly rate set by CBA).
