Accounting Director Of Retail Accounting

The Accounting Director of Retail Accounting oversees the strategic and operational management of the retail accounting function, ensuring that monthly close processes and financial reporting for Vistra's retail brands is complete and accurate and in compliance with financial policies. The director collaborates cross-functionally to drive process improvements and automation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Sets standards for quality of work, develops the department vision and drives continuous improvement and standardization across their team.
  • Responsible for shaping department culture and mentoring the development of future leaders in the accounting and finance areas.
  • Provides support to other departments as a subject matter expert.
  • Provides strategic expertise to support maintenance and improvements of internal systems.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

  • Drives monthly close and reporting processes for retail accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP, accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Drives finance transformation initiatives and process improvement efforts, including automation and system enhancements, to reduce manual effort.
  • Develops and implements internal controls and audit procedures to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with finance, retail, and IT teams to deliver reporting and financial information that supports strategic decision-making.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, MBA preferred

Experience:

  • 10+ years in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience preferred in the Energy industry
  • 7+ years experience as a Manager / Supervisor

Skills:

  • CPA preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting and/or reporting systems
  • Strong leadership, business, financial, problem solving, and communication skills.
