Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Young Adult Peer Support Specialist to join our school-based team. In this role, you will provide consistent, strengths-based support to students as they navigate personal, social, and academic challenges. This position is ideal for someone who can build meaningful peer connections, model positive decision-making, and guide students toward their individual goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide daily check-ins and ongoing peer support for students in both individual and group settings
Engage students in meaningful conversations around their goals, strengths, and areas of growth
Facilitate structured sessions on key topics including:
Healthy relationships
Vaping and cannabis education
Conflict resolution
Life and social skills
Financial literacy
College and career readiness
Collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated student support
Participate in meetings related to student care (IEPs, family support meetings, internal team huddles, etc.)
Support students in identifying needs and accessing appropriate resources
Maintain accurate documentation of student interactions and ensure appropriate information-sharing with referrals and stakeholders
Coordinate transportation and outbound referrals as needed
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
2–3 years of experience in youth services, behavioral health, education, or related fields preferred
Ability to pass state and federal background checks and fingerprinting
Eligibility to obtain CPRS or CPRS-F credential within 12 months of hire (support provided)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Valid Maryland driver’s license with a clean driving record
CPR, AED, and NARCAN training (or willingness to complete upon hire)
Ability to work effectively within school settings and with diverse student populations
