The Orthopedic Partners Clinic is preparing for the September opening of our new Urgent Care Facility in Cotton Wood Heights.

We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant with extensive Casting Technician experience to work within our new Urgent Care facility. The Medical Assistant (Casting Technician) applies, adjusts, and removes casts, splints, and other orthopedic devices. They also prepare patients for procedures, assist with fracture reductions, and educate patients on proper cast and splint care. This role also involves ordering and maintaining supplies, and assisting with other patient care tasks as needed.

  • Casting and Splinting: Applying, adjusting, and removing casts (including complex cases), splints, and other orthopedic devices.
  • Patient Preparation: Preparing patients for examinations and treatments, taking vital signs, and potentially performing suture removal, dressing changes, and injections.
  • Patient Care: Perform general wound care and other patient care tasks as needed
  • Assistance with Procedures: Assisting orthopedic surgeons or providers with fracture reductions and other procedures.
  • Patient Education: Instructing patients on proper cast and splint care, including walking with casts or boots, and educating them about follow-up care.
  • Supply Management: Maintaining and ordering cast room supplies and equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate patient records and potentially compiling technical and statistical data for reports.
  • Room Preparation: Prepare and stock exam rooms
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in applying and removing casts, splints, and other orthopedic devices, as well as understanding proper aseptic techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and education.
  • Ability to manage supplies, maintain a clean and organized work area, and assist with data collection and record-keeping.
  • Understanding of fracture care, orthopedic terminology, and proper use of orthopedic equipment.
  • Experience in an urgent or emergency care clinic setting, particularly with casting and splinting.
