The nurse will perform triage, administer medications, assist with minor procedures, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care in a pediatric urgent care setting.Key Responsibilities:Perform patient triage and initial assessments for pediatric patients with a range of urgent medical conditions.Administer prescribed medications, immunizations, and treatments following established protocols.Assist with procedures such as splinting, laceration care, suture removal, nebulizer treatments, and ear irrigations.Monitor patient responses to treatments and promptly report changes in condition.Collect and label specimens for laboratory testing (urine, strep, pregnancy, glucose).Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record system (Epic).Maintain infection control and universal precaution standards in all patient interactions.Collaborate with the urgent care team to ensure efficient patient flow and timely care delivery. Clinical Skills:Pediatric Care: Asthma/reactive airway disease, RSV, fever, croup, ear infections, burns, sprains/strains, lacerations, and recognition of abuse.Procedures: Splinting, suture removal, nebulizer treatments, Foley catheter management.Medication Administration: IM, PO, emergency meds, immunizations.Diagnostics: Blood glucose testing, strep tests, urine analysis, pregnancy testing.Assessment: Vital signs, pain assessment, medication reconciliation, height/weight, pulse oximetry.Systems Knowledge: Cardiovascular (AED use), Respiratory (oxygen administration), Neurological (altered level of consciousness).Work Environment:Patient population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents.Average daily census: 45–66 patients.Self-scheduling environment.Interdisciplinary support includes interpretation services.Scrub color: Any color except black.RequirementsRequired Qualifications:Licensure/Certifications:Active Registered Nurse license (state of California or compact license pending posting)BLS (American Heart Association)PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)Experience:Minimum 1 year of recent RN experiencePediatric and Emergency Department (ED) experience requiredExperience performing triage on pediatric patientsEpic charting experience preferredTravel experience preferred (first-time travelers accepted if ED/triage experienced)
