Job Duties: Job Description: The Lamar University Center for Career & Professional Development is looking for a creative Social Media Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the awareness of our services, career fairs and events.
Responsibilities: Work alongside the team to create a plan for social media strategies monthly
Assist in the growth of the brand by raising awareness through various social media platforms
Content creation such as images, writing, and graphics
Be creative and use multiple social media features to attract followers and engagement
Monitor postings to ensure the brand message is constant from the terminology used to images posted
Attendance at career fairs and events to document the events via social media and create engagement with followers
Aid in the daily aspects of promoting the businesses campaigns
Interact with followers, students, and alumni by communicating and answering questions through the company’s social pages
Assist in implementing plans to increase followers on popular social media websites such as Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, and Facebook
Help create content as dictated by the monthly editorial calendar to promote the department’s services, career fairs and events
Post and manage social media photos and content
Provide monthly analytics for all social media accounts
Curate appropriate photos and captions for social media
Organize and manage social media management system
Track social media growth
Research latest tools to promote social media engagement, growth, and effectiveness
Collaborate with Social Media Student Coordinator/Intern to create training videos for departmental resources such as Handshake, Interview Prep, etc.
Provide superior customer service to customers at all times
May be required to support testing as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, graphic design, journalism, public relations, or related field
Familiar with multi-social posting through programs such as Hootsuite
Comfortable with working with Canva, Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and internet ranking for web content
Entry level experience determining how to cater unique marketing campaigns to a unique audience
Ability to work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many company initiatives at once
Entry level understanding of marketing strategy and how to use the concepts throughout various forms of outreach
Physical Requirements: May assist in career event setup and tear down, including employer loading/unloading zones. (Not lifting more than 20 pounds.)
Work Hours: Shifts: Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00; may need some early mornings (7 AM), Saturdays, and after hours events as needed
Job Conditions: Indoor/office environment. Occasionally outdoors to assist with mail and events.
