Job Profile Summary Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for assisting in coordinating the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Grant Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. Ensures the success of the student body by fostering cooperative relationships and identifying issues and concerns relevant to student success. Works closely with student success coaches and the academic success centers to ensure an appropriate tutor is assigned to a participant. Assists participants navigate the various academic and student support tools that are available to students. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring tutoring services, as well as collecting and entering data into the Student Support Services (SSS) database for the Annual Performance Report and other evaluation reports. Performs related work as directed.
This is a temporary position with a chance of annual renewal based on sustainability of the program. The program is a 5-year grant. The incumbent is subject to annual performance evaluations.
This position allows eligible Veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Minimum Experience/Training: Three years of general business or field specific experience, with two years in a College/function specific experience. Tutoring experience preferred Experience working with first generation low-income students preferred An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Essential Functions: Weekly - 20%: Works with BC faculty, staff, and workforce education program to identify and hire suitable tutors. Daily - 20%: Selects, assigns, and notifies participants of individual and group tutoring sessions. Daily - 10%: Ensures alignment of tutoring with BC course content and coordinators tutoring with the ASCs and/or online. Daily - 10%: Coordinates participant and tutor appointments, collects tutor summation sheets and assists in updating participant files Weeekly - 20%: Works closely with the director of the grant and with other SSS staff members to secure participant data and maintains SSS student database for evaluation and reporting purposes. Weekly - 5%: Works with SSS staff, BC Admissions/Registrar, Financial Aid and advising to accurately obtain, maintain, and update participant information Daily - 5%: Maintains tutoring documentation and utilizes tracking system for all tutoring system to collect information such as time spent, subjects covered, and materials discussed in coordination with participant’s Student Success Plan Other - 5%: Provides data from the SSS database for the Annual Performance Report and other evaluation reports Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: In-depth knowledge and hands on expertise in tutor coordination and pertinent interdependencies General understanding of the external environment and how it affects academia in general Strong knowledge of College structure, policies and practices, and the impact on students Demonstrated ability to motivate and empower students to achieve academic priorities Ability to partner with others across the College and externally to exchange information, collaborate on projects, share resources, etc. Ability to incorporate technological tools in the day-to-day workday performance. Working knowledge of data entry, emphasis in database management preferred Excellent written/oral communication skills; strong organizational skills, required Ability to manage own work to job and performance standards.
