An SDE II in the Retail Integration Merchant experience team of the Just Walk Out organization plays a crucial role as an autonomous contributor. They are responsible for: Inventing, designing, and building high-quality software that is stable and performant. Mastering a broad range of frontend (web apps), backend (AWS services), and low-level system technologies. Understanding code legacy and crafting code that is easily understood by new team members. Creating flexible software through appropriate trade-offs, reusing existing solutions, and carefully managing dependencies. Monitoring cost-effectiveness when proposing technological solutions. Additionally, this role involves: Actively participating in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning. Promoting operational excellence by identifying problems and proposing actionable solutions. Training new team members on software development, operational procedures, and security best practices. Fostering constructive dialogue professionally and assisting in the recruitment and mentoring of junior engineers. About the Team: The Retail Platform team within the Physical Stores Organization is responsible for the integration systems necessary for 3P retailers to utilize Just Walk Out (JWO) technology effectively. Key responsibilities include: Retail data ingestion (catalog and pricing information). Payment processing, compliance, and seller fees. Accounting and self-service tools for non-Amazon retailers to adopt Amazon's retail technology products. Diverse Experiences: Amazon highly values diverse experiences. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 2+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling). 3+ years of professional software development experience. Proficiency in at least one programming language. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 3+ years of experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and operations.
