Overview:
As a Senior Industrial Construction Project Manager, you will lead standalone multi-craft, joint venture, or EPC projects valued at over $200 million. Your role encompasses the oversight of safety, quality, and essential project controls to ensure successful project execution. You will direct engineering teams and collaborate with technology providers and joint venture partners, while being accountable for all project elements including safety, quality, labor, materials, and client relations.
To excel in this position, a comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices and codes is crucial. You will liaise with all stakeholders such as clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, distributors, and vendors, while maintaining strategic communication with project management about the project's status.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the entire site management team including Construction Managers, Project Engineers, Quality Managers, and Safety Managers.
Represent the company professionally in all client interactions.
Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors regarding project-related issues.
Champion the Corporate Safety Plan and create site-specific safety plans.
Monitor completion status and schedule progress, addressing productivity challenges proactively.
Review work plans and packages, ensuring the site's quality plan is effectively communicated and inspections are timely.
Guide Superintendents in maintaining labor rates below estimations.
Conduct job safety analyses and train staff on JSA completion.
Lead safety meetings and training sessions on-site.
Coordinate material deliveries and oversee procurement status.
Plan and coordinate workgroups on-site.
Review detailed drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Support field operations by performing basic engineering calculations and technical drafting.
Approve purchase orders and subcontracts, and review project documentation.
Offer field support and oversee subcontractor activities.
Maintain accurate project recordkeeping including daily reports and requests for information.
Develop and maintain project controls such as productivity tracking and cash flow forecasts.
Collaborate on the creation of project schedules and help manage budgeting processes.
Act as the main company representative in all customer interactions.
Ensure understanding and compliance with the Prime contract provisions.
Prepare invoices and schedule of values for customer billing.
Assist in recruiting staff professionals for your project as needed.
Mentor and manage direct reports while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering and construction management.
In-depth experience in heavy industrial construction, particularly in fossil power generation, mining, metals, and heavy manufacturing.
A minimum of 11 years of construction field experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in MIC Health and Safety programs and regulations.
Commitment to safety and the ability to lead by example.
Adept at reading and analyzing engineering plans and specifications.
Innovation in providing cost-saving alternatives during design and construction.
Ability to thrive in various weather conditions at construction sites.
Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Skilled at delegating tasks and providing necessary support to achieve project objectives.
Willingness to travel extensively and relocate for projects lasting 6-12 months.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Ability to work up to 12 hours a day in physically demanding conditions.
Physical capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Adaptability to varied and potentially harsh site conditions.
Proficiency in using personal protective equipment as required.
