Who are we looking for?
GHD has a great opportunity for a Senior Environmental Field Technician to join our team in Houston, TX office. This position is an integral part of our contamination, assessment, and remediation (CAR) business group and requires a diverse array of responsibilities. Working on a diverse range of projects, this role is a "hands on" field position requiring travel and occasional overnight work throughout the region.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
Assist engineers to design, plan, or perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines. Work may include waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology.
Responsibilities Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently. Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents. Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions. Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design. Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate. Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate. Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards. Waste Management: Support waste management efforts, aiding in waste reduction programs, waste segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal. Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments. Annual up to date OSHA 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher training Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record Ability to perform field work wearing a respirator (medically cleared) Ability to work extended hours and travel out of town Physically capable of working in non-ideal conditions, such as hot/cold temperatures, wet weather, outside, and around loud equipment and traversing rough terrains Education Post-Secondary Non-Tertiary Education Experience General Experience: Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised (13 months to 3 years) Managerial Experience: Very limited (0 to 3 months)
