Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Director of Warhawk Health Services provides leadership for the delivery of comprehensive primary health care, health counseling and education programs to the students, faculty, staff and their dependents at Auburn University at Montgomery. Warhawk Health Services is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, a Registered Nurse, and Senior Program Associate and is available to students in the Irma B. Moore Hall on campus. Warhawk Health Services also offers a variety of preventative health services such as health screenings, physical examinations, immunizations, contraceptive counseling and laboratory testing; The Director is responsible for managing these programs and staff and for overseeing all day-to-day administrative decisions and policy development. The Director works closely with a collaborating physician to assure all policies and procedures are addressed appropriately.
Responsibilities:
Daily Operations and Program Planning:
Facilitation of smooth daily operations and program planning including interaction with various campus departments and administrators.
Supervision, training and leadership of health center staff.
Provides in-service instruction as necessary and promotion of continuing professional education.
Assign staff schedules for daily clinical coverage.
Knowledge of billing practices and credentialing.
Manages contracts per university procedures
Conducts annual reviews
Counsel employees, as necessary, regarding areas of improvement and Initiates corrective action when necessary.
Assures all professional licenses are current.
Maintain currency on college health trends nationally and specifically for AUM students.
Participate in local and national college health associations and nurse practitioner conferences.
Develop, implement, and update strategies for expanding health center presence and visibility on campus.
Delivery and coordination of primary health care for eligible recipients:
Assessing, teaching, and treating students, faculty, staff and their dependents seeking care.
Decisions for appropriate referral to contract physicians and community providers.
Precept nursing and health related students.
Provide for the expansion of services as necessary
Share content expertise within the AUM community.
Inventory:
Manages the Health Center’s inventory and equipment by planning, ordering and budgeting for medical and office supplies, medications, medical equipment, furniture and appliances. Make recommendations for and be involved with capital improvement projects.
Student Health records:
Management of patient health records.
Monitoring utilization and diagnostic trends.
Federal and State reporting as needed.
Employ procedures for confidentiality, records and office security, and appropriate release of information based on FERPA/HIPAA regulations.
Other duties :
Coordinates compliance with Alabama’s immunization law and federal clinical laboratory regulations.
Collaborate with Counseling Center, Title IX Office, Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, and other campus partners on campus programming and to facilitate connections to services for students.
Attend Auburn campus health insurance committee meetings as an AUM representative/advocate as appropriate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated experience working with electronic medical records.
Strong knowledge of and experience with medical procedures and techniques.
Comprehensive knowledge of student health insurance plans, billing, and maintaining compliance.
Demonstrated ability and experience with managing budgets.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to discuss sensitive topics in non-threatening ways.
Demonstrated experience with supervision, recruitment, and management of clinical staff.
