TOBACCO RETAIL LICENSE INSPECTOR

The current vacancy exists in the City of Stockton Police Department. Under general supervision, provides assistance with inspecting local retail establishments for compliance with laws/ordinances related to tobacco sales. Duties will include conducting inspections and assisting the Police Department with issues related to retail tobacco sales. The incumbent will work a flexible shift.
Incumbents in this position are included in the Civil Service system, in a "for-cause" employment status, and are unrepresented. (Classified/Unrepresented)
This recruitment is being conducted as an Open part-time recruitment. All successful candidates will be placed on an open list. This list will be used to fill future vacancies.
Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.

Under general supervision, provides assistance with technical, administrative and field activities; performs research and assists with conducting various studies and analyses in the Police and Fire Departments. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Examination:

Applicants who qualify in terms of relevant work experience and education, that best fit the needs of the City, will be invited to participate in the examination process. Candidates must receive a minimum passing score of 70%, as determined by the relative performance of all candidates in all portions of the examination. New employees have up to three (3) months from the date of hire to comply with the requirement. Any interested candidates must be willing to adhere to this requirement throughout the duration of employment.

Experience:

Do you possess a California POST Basic certificate OR valid Reserve (Peace) Officer Certificate (Level I) issued by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) in accordance with POST Administrative Regulation 1011?
