Schedule: 2, 12-hour shifts/week. The successful candidate will be able to circulate on cardiac procedures and take call (10 days per month, subject to change based on needs of the department).

How you̢۪ll contribute
A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:
Prioritizes and organizes delivery of nursing care and consults with other specialists as appropriate and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient̢۪s comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress. Aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
Oversees patient assessment to ensure that patients are prepared for scheduled procedures, writes initial nursing histories and develops individual care plans for each patient.
Manages chart review and makes sure all necessary documents for procedure are present. Additionally, updates patient records to ensure accurate, complete and timely documentation. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Administers and documents distribution of controlled narcotics and other medications.
Assesses patients̢۪ knowledge level and provides individualized patient education and documents the education and patient response.
Demonstrates proficiency in order entry, scheduling, charging, batching.
Transports patients to and from Cath Lab. Positions patients according to type of procedure.
Prepares patient for surgery in accordance with hospital standards.
Assists team during the procedure and anticipates physician̢۪s needs.
Handles instruments and supplies correctly and ensures they function properly.
Demonstrates knowledge of the proper equipment for each procedure and prepares the Cath Lab for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case.
Maintains an aseptically controlled environment.
Maintains the accuracy of all sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
Assists with case clean-up and proceeds with preparations for the next case.
Cleans, assembles and prepares instruments, equipment, and supplies for sterilization when needed. Returns equipment to its proper storage area.
Demonstrates proficiency in removal of sheaths.
Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing all equipment in the Cath Lab, including monitors and the Mac Lab.
Assists with the orientation, education and training of members of the cath lab staff
Participates in developing working schedules as well as patient schedules.
Provides relief in other areas of the hospital.

Qualifications:
What we̢۪re looking for
Applicants should have a current NV RN license and possess an associate or bachelor̢۪s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
American Heart Association Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire. If the employee holds an instructor certification, the instructor certification is allowed.
