Douglas County Farmers Co-op is seeking an experienced Store Manager at our Winston location to lead and train store personnel to achieve sales goals, as well as to ensure profitability through correct use of store systems/processes. The manager manages the overall store overseeing operations including customer service and administration; planning and merchandise management, replenishment, product inventory, and loss prevention activities; ensuring friendly, fast and accurate processing of all customer transactions. Is responsible for creating a healthy and positive work environment which drives employee engagement and retention; act as the point of contact for vendors, customers, employees to execute daily merchandising and operational needs. The manager is responsible for developing the skills of all employees to achieve sales goals and achieving customer service at a high level.
Essential Duties:
Promote sales through quality customer service.
Execute merchandising planograms and category assortments.
Facilitate the training of all store employees.
Oversee incoming inventory and weekly product orders, maintain merchandise in stocks to satisfy customer needs, manage seasonal merchandise changes.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for the daily management of all retail store personnel.
Responsible for managing 10-20 direct reports and mentoring staff in all store departments.
Recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient staff members.
Facilitate the training of all store employees to foster a welcoming work environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supports management and department specialists with merchandising questions, inventory audit tasks, and sales goals.
Acts as a liaison between buyers and purchasing managers.
Conducts daily tours and delegate tasks as appropriate and follow-up to ensure tasks are completed.
Maintain store stock displays, plan-o-grams, and organize products in a neat and attractive way to promote sales. Ensure that in stock conditions are met to ensure customer demands are met.
Manage the appropriate rotation and display of merchandise, endcaps, and pricing throughout the store based on seasonal trends and local demand.
Create retail events to meet sales goals, seasonal changes to product assortments are made.
Verify that advertisements and markdowns are strategically based on budget restrictions, supply availability, and sales trends, to meet sales budget, margin, and profitability expectations.
Processes account payments, purchases, returns, and exchanges according to store policy as needed.
Assists customers in locating various products, resolving complaints, and answering questions.
Train, develop, and coach cashier, warehouse, and carryout staff on company policy and inventory location as needed to ensure that customers are assisted quickly, accurately, and in a friendly manner at all times.
Attend product training sessions and relay this information to store employees.
Oversee incoming inventory and ensure freight is stocked onto the sales floor in a timely manner.
Work with appropriate department specialists to ensure backroom is maintained, inventory is recorded and posted correctly, and that on hands are maintained in perpetual inventory correctly.
Respond to staffing shortages or scheduling needs proactively and as quickly as possible to ensure customer service is not negatively impacted by scheduling issues.
Orders supplies and tools required by staff to assist customers as required and respond to facility maintenance and repair requests in a timely fashion.
Performs other business related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills.
Must maintain a fair and consistent set of standards that applies to all employees.
Ability to operate available equipment, such as computers, cash registers, calculators, and scanners.
Basic mathematical skills, including additions, subtraction, multiplication, and division, to make changes and give refunds accurately and to balance tills and the safe daily.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
Communicate professionally via phone, email, and in-person with customers, staff, and vendors.
Become knowledgeable about company's products and services, and customer-related policies, to make proper recommendations of products and services sold during training period.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with management, employees, office staff, vendors, and customers in a friendly, open, and approachable manner.
You must have excellent time management skills and meet deadlines while adjusting priorities and managing time wisely to respond to business operations.
Ability to analyze retail reports concerning sales history, success, and areas for improvement.
Required to maintain strict confidence of all sensitive employee and customer information.
Ensure the accuracy of inventory is maintained daily.
Communicating company paperwork processes and policies to all team members is completed accurately; invoices, point of sales, inventory, inter store transfers, product orders.
Manage the daily merchandise flow to ensure adequate in-stock and inventory control.
Problem solving and conflict resolution for both employees and customers.
Knowledge of retail hardware supply, farm supply, lawn and garden, retail operations experience.
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree or equivalent, preferred.
One year of retail experience related to hardware, farm and ranch supply.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
Experience with maintaining records and documentation in an organized and logical manner and conducting employee improvement plans and corrective action tasks as appropriate.
Familiarity with farm and ranch products and livestock is highly desired.
_ Physical Requirements: _
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling required frequently to rearrange merchandise and verify stock levels.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and move products with equipment.
May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
Load merchandise and supplies from pallets to the sales floor.
Will occasionally be scheduled to work at various company locations within the Co-op.
Job Type: Full Time, Salary based pay.
Salary $54,000 plus+ a year, DOE.

Shift is typically Monday -Friday, to include rotating weekends, weekend availability, store hours are open Saturday & Sunday.
