We're looking for a Retail Specialist in ourDayton Girl Scout Shop who's ready to make every guest interaction memorable. You'll be the friendly face behind the counter and the go-to expert for uniforms, badges, fun branded gear, and all the essentials that help girls shine.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide exceptional customer service to girls, caregivers, volunteers, and staff - in person, by phone, and via email. Guide customers in selecting uniforms, insignia, program materials, and fun Girl Scout-branded merchandise. Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment, including merchandising and restocking. Process transactions accurately using a point-of-sale (POS) system, handling both cash and card payments. Track inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, tagging, and organizing new merchandise. Prepare and fulfill online and in-store pick-up orders in a timely and accurate manner. Support pop-up shops at events, council programs, and seasonal activities - some local travel may be required. Collaborate with the retail and marketing teams to promote new products and seasonal campaigns. Share knowledge about the Girl Scout program and help connect customers with resources and staff. Assist with special projects, shop displays, and maintaining compliance with branding and safety standards. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of one year experience in retail sales and/or in-person customer service. Experience working in a gift shop, gift store, souvenir shop, antique shop, airport shop, boutiques, and other specialty stores is highly preferred. Cash handling experience and experience using a tablet (used as the register) Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software. Experience working in a customer relationship management or point of sale (CRM/POS) platform, preferred. Experience in retail merchandising procedures, including stocking and inventory control. (strongly preferred) Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to recognize and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential customer information. Valid state driver's license and functioning vehicle for work within the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio region. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position. The workdays are primarily Monday through Friday, but an occasional Saturday during peak seasons (September - May) will be required. The shop closes daily for a 30-minute lunch break while the store is closed.
Current Shop Hours: Monday - CLOSED (Staff still report for weekly maintenance, inventory, pricing and store operations) Tuesday - 11:00am - 6:30pm Wednesday - 11:00am - 6:00pm Thursday - 11:00am - 6:00pm Friday - 11:00am - 5:00pm Saturdays - Open seasonal hours TRAVEL Potential travel for a "pop-up shop" for special events in the Dayton region.
