Retail Pharmacy Technician Specialty Pharmacy (New Orleans, LA) Start Date: ASAP Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM (No weekends) Type: Contract-to-Hire (Initial 8-week contract) Overview: A specialty retail pharmacy in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Retail Pharmacy Technician for an 8-week contract with the strong potential to transition to a permanent role. This pharmacy serves complex patients who manage chronic illnesses and typically take 815 medications daily. We're looking for a tech with exceptional communication skills , deep medication knowledge, and compassion for working with underserved patient populations. Responsibilities: Assist pharmacists in filling and dispensing prescriptions Communicate clearly with patients regarding medications and instructions Provide patient education in a compassionate and clear manner (low literacy population) Support pharmacy operations, inventory, and daily workflow Use PioneerRx software (prior experience preferred but not required) Ideal Candidate Will Have: Retail or specialty pharmacy tech experience (required) Direct experience working with patients who have chronic illnesses Strong working knowledge of the top 200400 retail medications Patience, empathy, and the ability to simplify complex information for patients with low health literacy Experience with PioneerRx (preferred, but training available) Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid patient populations Important: Resumes must clearly highlight experience working with chronic disease populations.
