Role Overview: As the Retail Climbing Department Lead, you will utilize your climbing expertise to enhance our retail climbing experience. You will oversee the operations of our climbing department, outfitting customers with the right equipment and maximizing the use of our indoor rock wall. Your responsibilities will include training both teammates and customers, ensuring safety, and driving sales results under the guidance of the Assistant Store Manager. Deliver exceptional customer service while implementing the company's service and sales standards.
Utilize product knowledge to offer expert guidance and consultative advice to customers.
Instruct climbing techniques for explorers of all ages and experience levels.
Conduct instructional lessons as requested by customers.
Supervise climbing sessions to ensure a safe experience for all climbers.
Maintain merchandise presentation standards, featured products, and inventory management.
Collaborate with store management for general supervision, including opening and closing duties.
Assist with scheduling, guiding assignments, and project monitoring.
Communicate company initiatives and promotions to your team.
Identify and rectify safety issues related to the climbing wall and equipment.
Help create and ensure compliance with safety-related standard operating procedures.
Ensure the safety of teammates and customers in accordance with local regulations.
Maintain all required certifications and ensure they are up-to-date.
Assist in training new hires and cross-training current associates.
Mentor new teammates by sharing skills and best practices.
Organize team-building events at the climbing wall.
Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications: Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
Climbing certification is required.
Must be at least 18 years old to meet legal and job requirements.
Targeted Pay Range: $20.00 - $28.00. Actual pay may vary based on factors such as location and experience. DICK'S Sporting Goods complies with all state paid leave requirements and offers a generous benefits package. Location-specific background checks may be necessary for supervising minors.
