General Summary
The Retail Branch Manager leads a team of service professionals to deliver an Absolutely Exceptional Experience to customers for an assigned branch location. This role is responsible for driving branch growth, developing team talent, and ensuring operational excellence. The Branch Manager builds strong relationships both externally with customers and internally across the bank, grows deposits and loans through proactive business development, ensures compliance with regulations and MVB policies, and provides consistent coaching and feedback for employee development. This position is a key leadership role within the Retail Banking team and contributes to the overall success of Middletown Valley Bank.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Inspires, coaches, and develops a high-performing branch team through on-going feedback and support.
• Collaborates with other Branch Managers to ensure consistent operations and best practices across all branches.
• Drives business growth by meeting or exceeding goals for deposits, loans, and new customer acquisition.
• Identifies and pursues new business opportunities within the community and targeted market segments.
• Conducts regular team meetings to review branch goals, challenges, and performance.
• Ensures staff compliance with banking regulations, security standards, and internal policies.
• Oversees daily branch operations, delegating effectively to support roles as needed.
• Monitors and improves customer satisfaction, reviewing feedback to uphold service standards.
• Maintains sound credit quality and supports loan collection efforts in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Manages branch budgets, controls expenses, and contributes to profitability goals.
• Actively engages in service, civic, and other community-rooted activities to further solidify the reputation of Middletown Valley Bank.
• Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
• Other duties necessary to meet business objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Associate degree or higher and 5+ years of progressive banking or financial services experience. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, delegate, and communicate effectively.
• Strong knowledge of the retail banking operations, consumer/small business lending, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Jack Henry Xperience Teller and OnBoard Platforms desirable.
• Effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, including events or Saturdays as needed.
