The Retail Food Services Associate at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for supporting the provision of timely, safe, quality food service for customers, including food preparation, serving, and area stocking and sanitation. This role requires strong communication skills to engage effectively and positively within the department and with external customers. The Retail Food Services associate also utilizes strong organizational skills to complete documentation, register management, and other operational activities with efficient use of time and resources while ensuring a safe, compliant, and quality food service experience.
JOB FUNCTIONS Ensures timely, safe food service to customers: preparation, plating and serving of food. Remains responsible for following their assigned areas' daily menu, recipes, service standards, and procedures. Efficiently follows proper portion controls and leftover food techniques provided by supervisor. Greets customers and manages transactions accurately when assigned to cash register. Secures cash register drawer prior to leaving station unattended. Remains responsible for maintaining, cleaning and stocking all food service areas. Maintains the physical area efficiently and effectively including: cleaning and sanitation of all assigned areas, sanitation of food service equipment, delivery of soiled dishes to dish room, scraping and spraying excess food debris from soiled dishes. Uses food and supplies wisely. Follows proper food safety procedures. Actively participates in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) program. Cleans & sanitizes all areas to meet the State Board of Health Standards. Assists in the keeping of assigned HACCP monitors. Maintains food service documentation as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS Education - High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or equivalent. Required Licenses and Certifications Work Experience Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions including recipes, menus, chemical mixtures, and follow those instructions as given. - Must possess effective written and verbal communication - Must possess mathematical skills and problem solving abilities - Must possess interpersonal skills - Must be knowledgeable in point of sale and cash registers - Must exhibit a high level of initiative, accuracy, diplomacy and self-direction - Must be able to work well within a team oriented structure and to work alone when required - Must follow the departments grooming, hand washing and food safety standards - Must prioritize workflow and efficiently complete multiple tasks - Must seek to improve services and products, ask for customer feedback - Must support and participate in quality process improvement activities - Must be able to maintain confidentiality - Must have daily interaction with patients, families, clinical staff, physicians, other support staff, and visitors - Must interact with all internal and external customers to provide high quality customer service - Must be courteous and professional - Must maintain a high level of adherence to the Hospital's mission statement and Behavioral Standards Physical Demands A thorough completion of this section is needed for compliance with legal standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
