Restaurant Server Job Overview:

Hotel Madison is hiring a restaurant server for our food & beverage outlets.

Responsibilities: Assisting bartender with pre-shift preparations (stocking barware, cleaning, prepping, etc.) Taking drink and food orders from customers Answering customers' questions about drinks and making recommendations as appropriate Accurately remembering multiple customers' drink orders simultaneously Checking customers' IDs to make sure they're of legal drinking age, and be able to identify accuracy of identification card used. Collecting payment from customers and setting up and closing tabs Interacting with customers as appropriate and as time allows Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor Necessary Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Good attention to detail and a team-oriented work ethic Ability to remember multiple customers' beverages Ability to remain on feet for an entire shift Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance Evening, night, and weekend availability Qualifications and education requirements 1+ years of experience as a server in a bar, club or similar setting. 2+ years of experience serving adult beverages preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Knowledge of common alcoholic drinks, to include beer and wine knowledge. Must possess ability to professionally represent the hotel and communicate positively with the guests. Physical requirements

Requires ability to stand/walk for significant periods. Requires ability to move fingers and hands easily and quickly. Requires ability to communicate both orally and in writing to guests and staff members. Requires ability to lift 20 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10-35 pounds. Other requirements Customer Service: A friendly, relaxing demeanor, courteousness and quick service will help get repeat customers. Availability: Weekends required, must be available during summers and high volume weekends. Teamwork: Cocktail Servers are part of a team! You will be working with other servers, bus persons, bartenders and cooks to make a great dining experience. Being a team player is essential. Ability to read, write, and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English. Calmly respond to dissatisfied guests and calling issues to managers' attention, Able to articulate clear greetings, requests for assistance, and say farewell to guests. Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Hotel Madison standards.
