Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA)

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Report incidents involving residents to appropriate individuals
  • Maintain knowledge of all policies and procedures
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts
  • Remain calm and competent during emergencies
  • Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information
  • Assist residents to and from dining room and activities
  • Check on residents, ensure attendance at meals and activities
  • Check on ill residents and report status or concerns
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status and community information
  • Assist new residents with move-in transition
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successfully completed approved personal care aide program
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to work with all levels of personnel
  • Contributing member of nursing team
  • Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs
  • Safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics
  • Designated uniform during working hours
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire
  • Represent the community in a positive and professional manner
  • Attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
