Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Pharmacy Technician Retail - Float for our busy Specialty Practice. The Pharmacy Tech is responsible for performing the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medical preparation, distribution, record-keeping, and inventory control. This includes verifying patient information and physician drug authorization. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of records and logs, and for performing any other administrative tasks necessary. Tasks are subject to final verification by a pharmacist.
Travel will be required to all CSNF locations.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Data entry
Labeling of prescriptions
Retrieval of prescriptions files, patient files and profiles, and other similar records pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.
Counting, weighing, measuring, and pouring of prescription medication or stock legend and controlled substances
May initiate communication to confirm the patient's name, medication, strength, quantity, directions, number of refills and date of last refill
May initiate communication with a prescribing practitioner or their agents to obtain clarification on missing or illegible dates, prescriber name, brand or generic preference, quantity, license numbers or DEA registration numbers
May accept the authorization to dispense medications pursuant to a prescribing practitioner's authorization to fill an existing prescription that has no refills remaining (refill authorization)
Participates in continuous quality improvement related events, meetings, or presentations
Maintains current drug information MSDS sheets
Checks drugs monthly for outdates, keeps accurate temperature logs
Keeps accurate logs on all patient assistance drugs
Assists with inventory control of medications and other supplies to ensure that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply in all departments; receives and shelves medications
Receives new drug education to remain abreast of new information
Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff
While under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, performance of any other mechanical, technical or administrative tasks which do not themselves constitute practice of the profession of pharmacy.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent
Pharmacy technician experience or completion of pharmacy technician training program
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Florida Pharmacy Technician Registration
National certification preferred
