Part-Time Stockroom Assistant / Store and Warehouse Specialist II (PW001)

Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Part-Time Stockroom Assistant / Store and Warehouse Specialist II (PW001) in Facilities Management and Operations. The selected candidate will maintain the facilities stockroom to ensure parts are available for shops to complete work order requests in a timely manner. Additionally, the selected candidate must adhere to all Longwood safety practices, promptly correcting any unsafe actions or practices and reinforcing these corrections with policy recommendations. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Process counter releases for work orders on a daily basis in Asset Essentials (work order/inventory control system)
  • Receive items into the stockroom properly when items are received via the receiving log - verifying material order, maintaining the receiving log, updating material data in the inventory system (Asset Essentials) to include quantity, cost, vendor, vendor contact, etc., marking material appropriately, shelving/packaging as needed for dispatching
  • Maintains coverage in the stockroom during business hours
  • Keep records and inventory up to date in our reporting system (Asset Essentials)
  • Perform monthly inventory reconciliation and research differences
  • Deliver materials to tradesmen on campus as needed via Golf Cart
  • Prepackage materials for pickup by tradesmen as needed
  • Pick up materials locally as needed to maintain required stock levels
  • Keep the stockroom neat, clean, and organized
  • Work with the Fiscal/Stockroom Manager to order supplies needed to keep required stock on hand and specific items needed to complete work orders
  • Learn state procurement guidelines to aid in processing orders through our state procurement system (EVA)
  • Research parts for the best pricing and vendors that fall within procurement guidelines
  • Operate manual and motorized material handling equipment as needed to maintain stock (such as a forklift)

Job Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; Considerable experience with Excel
  • Basic knowledge of trade-related tasks and requirements
  • Propensity to learn new technology quickly
  • Ability to deal with numerous issues simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift items (typically up to 50lbs)
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory control preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory and work order software preferred

Additional Information: This is a part-time, non-exempt, funded wage position in pay band 2. Hours worked will vary based on need, but will be limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position.
