Job Summary
Serves as first point of contact for the department and assists visitors to the department.
Provides general office assistance for faculty and graduate students, including copy machine and mailing.
Manages the department email account and classroom calendars.
Responds to general inquiries and forwards specific emails accordingly.
Responsible for alumni newsletter, including layout/design and some writing/editing.
Creates and distributes advertisements and announcements, both in electronic and paper form and postings to public online calendars.
Assists with set up, tear down, and cleaning up of department events.
Provides clerical support to the department. Assists with document creation, dictation, copying, and collating for projects related to the management of the department.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Preferred
Associate's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
2 years of clerical office work
SKILLS
Required
Excellent organization and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and focus with frequent interruptions
Proficiency with computer systems including standard office software such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
Working Conditions / Demands
On occasion, must be able to move 40-50 pounds and assist with physical set up of events. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
Work Hours
11am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 12-5 pm Friday, with occasional evening events adjusting those weekly hours.
