Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician / Paramedic positionprovides quality patient care in the out-of-hospital setting, including assessment of illness and/or injury, administering emergency care, and transportation services. Responds within the scope of training under operational guidelines and physician medical control.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is EMT $21.70-$30.64 and Paramedic $29.70-$41.93. These ranges reflect the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
Patient Care Responds promptly to requests for service. Assesses the needs of the sick or injured patient. Provides medical care within the paramedic scope of practice per the most current version of the Patient Care Guidelines. Works as an integral member of the prehospital care team, which includes dispatchers, bystanders, first responders, other EMS providers, and patient family members. Appropriately communicates patient information to receiving facilities and other members of the care team.
Ambulance Operation Operates the ambulance per state statutes and organizational policies. Provides for safe transportation for patients, partners, and passengers. Understands, demonstrates, and drives with due regard. Follows best practice guidelines for highway incident traffic management.
Patient Care Reporting Completes patient care reports, required documentation changes, and/or addendums in a timely manner. Ensures reports contain the proper content and attachments, are accurate, and relatively free from errors. Appropriately completes mandatory reports as required by law and/or policy.
Stewardship of Resources Demonstrates stewardship for department equipment and inventory. Keeps vehicles, equipment, and station clean and in good repair. Replaces items used during patient encounters. Completes daily and monthly vehicle inventory and cleaning as directed. Maintains other educational and operational inventory as directed. Promptly and accurately completes operational reports and summaries.
Professional Accountabilities Supports and provides quality public relations events and interactions. Responds to requests and work assignments in a timely manner. Actively seeks out and completes tasks, assignments, and projects that enhance the value of the department and organization. Enthusiastically volunteers and participates as requested in work groups and committees. Seeks ways to improve relationships with coworkers and peers. Assists with training new employees. Actively engages in the quality assurance and process improvement programs.
Qualifications
Paramedic Current registration as a Paramedic with the National Registry of EMT's Current certification as a Paramedic with the MN EMSRB Current American Heart Association BLS certification as an instructor or provider (or obtained within 90 days of start date, company paid) Current American Heart Association ACLS certification as an instructor or provider (or obtained within 90 days of start date, company paid) Current state-issued driver's license (with acceptable driving history)
EMT Current registration as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the National Registry of EMT's Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the MN EMSRB Current American Heart Association BLS certification as an instructor or provider (or obtained within 90 days of start date), company paid Current state-issued driver's license (with acceptable driving history) One year of experience in a career EMS system, or two years of experience in a volunteer EMS system preferred
EMS providers are required to pass a post-offer physical screening, which includes the essential functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without a reasonable accommodation, to be qualified for the job.
Schedule 24 hours per two-week pay period Weekends and holidays as scheduled
