Paramedic – Behavioral Health at SummitStone Health Partners summary: The Paramedic – Behavioral Health provides direct medical triage and support to behavioral health clients under the supervision of a Medical Director. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, documentation, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. The role requires Colorado EMT-Paramedic certification and experience with behavioral health patients, aiming to support urgent mental health and substance use disorder care in Larimer County.
Paramedic – Behavioral Health Salary Range:  $24.04 - $28.85 per hour, based on relevant years of experience Location:  Larimer county, Colorado Status:  Full time, 36 hours per week Hours: 12-hour shifts,  overnights
Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential.  Shift diff erentials are also available for evenings, nights ($7 per hour), weekends and holidays.
Role Overview:
Responsible for providing high quality direct medical triage support and services in health-related aspects of care for clients under the direction of a Medical Director. This position will assist in coordinating medical care and intervention with other team members and providers.
Essential Duties: Deliver high-quality patient care by providing prescribed medical treatment, providing physical assessments, developing plans of care, and implementing medical support services. Administer medication and treatments as prescribed. Evaluate, assess, monitor, and record patient symptoms and changes in their conditions. Coordinate, consult, and problem solves medical care and intervention with Interdisciplinary team members and providers. Consistently and independently follow established safety procedures. Report any medical or medication errors by end of shift. Maintain updated knowledge of professional licensure and medications procedures, healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices, by actively participating in professional and educational development. Participate in staff meetings and inter-agency meetings as required. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects. Perform all medical duties including and not limited to client assessment, actively staffing, work at any site, educating clients, administering medications, taking vital signs, medical procedures, telephone/walk in triage for clients, obtain prior authorizations, medication refill requests, lab work, inventory processes, paperwork, and treatment follow-ups. Document and audit the medical record for all medically necessary client care to ensure continuity of care.
Required: Colorado EMT-Paramedic Certification required. Basic Life Support Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Experience providing care for behavioral health patients. Experience in documentation in relation to clinical care and billing.
Highly Desired: Colorado Community paramedic endorsement and current certification from the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) CP-C exam preferred. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred. More than three years of experience working as a community paramedic preferred. Experience in coordinating mental health intervention plans and services with other agencies preferred. Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred.
